One Of My Range Burners Isn’t Working?

If you have a gas range, you may want to use a match to light up your burners on your range in case your electric ignition does not work. If you discover that your GE range burners are simply not working, it is possible that you do not have enough gas or electric power in the stove. If your stove is connected to an off-the-shelf socket, then it may not reach its full heat, or may simply not function.

If this is damaged, it can stop the burners from heating, or it can make them operate only on one temperature setting. Assuming there is no problem with your burners, or with the gas flowing into your range, usually, this will turn the burners on fire. If your burner is still producing weak flames, it could be an issue with your burner, thermostat, or the gas lines. If all of the burners in your cooker are having a weak flame, this could be a sign of gas lines being tight, or an issue with gas flow regulators.

If burners and oven are not turning on, you will want a professional to inspect your gas lines. If both the gas oven and the gas burner stopped working, it is more than likely that a problem is in the gas line, which would need a professional repair.

If the oven is receiving sufficient power, but is still failing to light, the burners are probably in need of a deep clean. If you notice that your gas burner does not ignite, or makes clicking noises while lighting your range, then chances are that the fuel is not getting enough power. If the Viking Gas Range Burner does not spark after you do a complete clean-up, then one of the burners may be defective. If just one (or several) burners are not lighting because they are not getting sparks when you twist the knob, but others are getting sparks and are lighting up correctly, it is likely that you will have to change out the wiring harness for your igniters.

To replace the igniter wiring harness, shut off your gas, disconnect the cooker, and remove the cooking grates and the burners. Replace Ignition The process of replacing the igniter begins the same way as checking your connections: Disconnect gas and power to the stove, remove the burning head entirely, and flip it over. Lift the burner head fully out of the oven – it should have the wiring coming from the rangetop connected at the bottom – and examine the igniters connections to ensure that the wires are connected correctly to the burner.

If you get a stovetop burner that is not working after cleaning thoroughly, try checking the ignition connections to ensure that they are tight. After you clean off the base of the burner, and when other components are dry, look at the igniters to see if there are any clogs or any debris that has built up. If you have removed the debris from the sealed burner base and secured any loose connections, you might have a malfunctioning igniter. If the wire connecting the igniter to your control unit is not securely connected, you will not receive the spark needed to correctly fire your malfunctioning burner.

If the igniters connections are solid, and you have already connected your stove and tested your stove, but still no flame from your burner, then you may have a complete replacement of your igniter. If you are left wondering how to fix the Wolf Stove Burner that is not lighting, chances are that you have a faulty igniter, which could need replacing. If you have a stove that has pilot lights and an open burner, fixing a dead burner can be trickier. If one of the burners on your electric range is not heating up, it may be because the burner is not good, there is a poor connection at the burner outlet, or a switch is not working.

If, indeed, a switch is faulty, changing the switch should solve your electrical stovetop heating issue. Before checking a burner on your electric stove, make sure you power down your appliance, disconnect the plug, and disconnect power from your circuit breaker to ensure safety. If the burners on your electric stove are hot, or will not shut off, it is most likely that the temperatures you have set on your control switches are not working properly, and that the contacts are not opening as they should. If the malfunctioning burner is actually heating up, you know that either the connections are bad internally, the contacts on the control switch are not closing as theyare supposed to, or somewhere else thereas a bad connection somewhere else on the wires connecting all of the various components.

When a burner gets clogged up with debris, food spills, or fat, you will get a range burner that won’t light. If one or more range burners takes too long to get up to a full temperature, or does not heat up enough, this impacts your cooking time and meal flavors.

Regular gas ranges will require you to lift up the top of the range to get to the igniter, whereas ranges with sealed burners will have their igniters visible from the outside.

Unlike with coil-type or electric ranges, you must light the burners in order to be able to cook anything on a gas range. If a gas stoves igniter does not spark at all, or if the spark is too faint, you need to replace the burner. The igniter needs to produce enough electrical energy to produce a spark and light up the gas flowing through the burner ports.

Once gas is ignited in your stovetop, the flame is diffused from the burner lid to reach all of the tiny openings on the burner head. Use a needle to clean out your burner holes, which can easily get clogged and stop your burners from firing. Reattach wires to a glass-top burner, making sure you plug in the right wires into the designated ports.
