My Food In The Refrigerator Is Frozen?

If food is frozen in the cooler part, you might need to adjust the controls for the cooler as well as for the freezer. In many cases, the freezers bottom drawer is frozen as the result of having too much food in the freezer. Another reason your refrigerator might freeze the fresh produce section might have something to do with electronic controls.

Another reason why you may experience freezing temperatures in the fresh food section could be related to the Damper Control. If you are experiencing freezing temperatures in your fresh food section, you would suspect the damper assembly would need to close, if working correctly. If your damper door is open, or the damper control assembly is faulty, then you need to replace that component in order to keep your cooler from staying too cold, which would result in freezing of your fresh foods in the lower compartment.

If an air damper is malfunctioning, your refrigerator may grow too cold, causing the food within to freeze and become inedible. If An air damper is controlled incorrectly, it may lead to improper temperature settings, which may result in vegetables freezing inside of your cooler drawers, or other icing potentially occurring within your coolers interior.

The open/closed Air Damper Control allows for an appropriate amount of cool air to flow through the Refrigerator. If your air damper is stuck open, cold air flowing continuously will cause food inside the cooler to become frozen.

If your cooler is relatively empty, all of the cold air will drop down into the bottom of the compartment and freeze your food. It becomes very possible for foods close to the Vents to freeze, because Refrigerator is trying to keep its temperature set, but it is hemorrhaging cold air at the same time. Unfortunately, a less expected drawback to having a bad refrigerator seal is that, since your appliance is running on a higher frequency, foods near the vents are going to be able to become extremely cold.

To control how much cold air is allowed to come from your cooler, which needs to run for longer to get a cooler temperature, a stopper in the vents will exist in the gap between the two. Similar to the damper in your fireplace, a damper seals off the vent to prevent extra cold air from coming in from the freezer unit once your cooler has reached the optimal temperature. A damper is essentially an assembly needed to regulate how much cool air comes into your fridge from your refrigerators freezer.

If the damper is not working properly, it may produce an overflow of air which flows into the coolers interior, leading to gradual decreases in temperature. If the thermostat of your refrigerator is malfunctioning, it can continuously send out an alarm to chill the air, even if there is no need, which causes the food to get frozen. If the thermostat malfunctions, this causes the compressor to work harder than the compressor should, in turn, causing food to freeze in the fridge, wasting food.
The entry lowers the temperature of the refrigerator, which allows the food and beverages to cool too much, which then causes it to freeze. If a cooler is freezing foods at its lowest setting, it is a sign that you should raise the temperature, install a thermometer, and check to see if your coils are dirty. If food continues to freeze, put a separate thermometer inside your cooler for more accurate readings.

If the food is still freezing, even after raising temperature settings, try identifying the region in Refrigerators where this is happening. If you are still having problems with your food freezing after adjusting your temperatures, you may want to do a little detective work to figure out where the freezing spots are. If you have adjusted your fridges temperature meter and rearrange your food, but the problem persists, test your freezers temperature.

This can also cause the freezer to be too cold, causing the cooled foods to subsequently freeze. Just like packing too much into a fridge may make it not cool enough, having insufficient food in the refrigerator may result in the freezing of the few items that you have. While keeping your refrigerator stocked to maximize effectiveness is always recommended, placing your food too close to the air vents could result in freezer burn. Overfilling shelves with too much food limits airflow through your fridge, which causes it to congregate in your crisper drawers and cause produce to freeze.

This may be a major reason why foods in this section of your fridge are frozen, but everything else is not. While it might not appear like the section in your fridge with a freezer will have an impact on the refrigerator, this is not always the case. It might seem counterintuitive, but if you pack the refrigerator full of items from all areas, you can trace if there is a specific area — like, say, your vegetable drawer — that is causing freezing. When circulation is happening, you might find the refrigerator is not cooling the way it should and your Whirlpool refrigerator drawers are constantly freezing your food.

If a properly-stocked cooler does not have a lot of food inside, the cold air will drop down into the lower part of the cooler – so fill it, but do not overfill, otherwise food will likely not be cooling correctly. If a gasket is leaky, your fridge is going to be running all the time, which can result in all of the stored food within freezing. If thermostat is defective, it may not shut down and keep running, causing the fridge to freeze anything stored inside. If your seals are cracked or worn, the freezer may be running for too long to keep the temperature, which will result in your refrigerator being too cold.

Normally, around 20% of the air would get into the fresh produce section, but if for one reason or another, the automatic damper is stuck in an open position, you could get a lot more air into your fresh produce, causing your temperature to plummet. Most current fridges use an auto damper to control the amount of air that gets to the fresh food section from the freezer.
