Repairman Repairing Dryer In Front Of Young Woman In Kitchen At Home

What you need to know before you begin your clothes dryer repair is that you may need to check a few different things before finding the actual cause.

Have you noticed that when you are running a load of laundry through your dryer that the heat inside the dryer is hotter than normal? Does the top of the dryer feel hot as well? Before starting your dryer you should understand that this problem can be related to a number of different things.

The first thing you need to do is check your lint filter. If you find the lint filter is dirty, clean out all of the lint and replace the filter. Restart your dryer and allow it to heat up again. If you notice the dryer continues to get too hot, turn off the dryer and allow it to cool for a while.

Now for the fun part. What you need to do now is unplug your dryer and pull it out and away from the wall. Pull your dryer vent hose out from the back of the dryer and from the wall. Check the inside of the vent hose for any lint build up. If you find any lint, be sure to clean it out before reattaching your vent hose to your machine and the wall connection.

If you have the old fashioned vent hose made of plastic, you should replace it. You should go to your hardware store and pick up a flexible metal vent hose instead. Plastic vents can cause a fire if overheated.

Once you have replaced the dryer vent, go ahead and plug your dryer in and push it back up to the wall in its original position. Take a look behind the dryer and make sure the vent hose is still firmly attached and make sure it didn’t fall off when you were pushing your machine back.

Now it’s time to fire up your dryer again and wait until it heats up. Once your dryer has heated up, check inside the dryer and see if the temperature is too hot. Also make sure to check the top of your dryer. Feel the top and see if it is hot.

If the dryer is still too hot, you will need to pull the dryer out again. Chances are that the dryer vent that runs inside your wall and runs to the outside of your house is clogged. You may need to call a vent cleaning company or even a carpet cleaner with a long vacuum hose and have them clean out your vent. If you have a vent that exits on your roof you will need to check the roof vent as well. Sometimes the roof vents get clogged with lint. Sometimes birds like to make a nest in the vent, blocking the air flow.

Having any kind or restricted air flow can cause your dryer to get too hot. Left alone and not repaired you can permanently destroy the heating element on your dryer. Fixing the airflow not only makes your dryer run better, it will save you a lot of money on electricity.
